The Snow Crunch team meets with the CEO of Ion Camera to check out the new line and the awesome smartphone and tablet integration.
The other thing that you’ve got is you can transfer things over, so just go over to select, save to an album… pick the files I want. The other thing that’s cool with this, is we’re actually capturing two files at the same time, the reason for that is so that when we’re playing it back on the IPhone, you’ve got no latency, it’s a smooth video coming across and that’s really cool. When we’re doing this, what we’re doing is just taking it across, select an album, say ok, and what you’re seeing now is these files coming across at a rapid rate. We can move a hundred megabyte file across in less sixty seconds. So you can literally go down the run, do an amazing run, jump on the ski lift, and you can literally have something and see it on Facebook before you even get off the lift.
Here we’ve got albums, files, can take it wherever you want, Facebook, Youtube… You’ve got even rename the file if you want, you’ve got full file management which is really important. It’s important because whilst you’ve got this on your head or your helmet, you want to be able to use it. That’s the biggest thing that you capture all this footage, you take it home, and you never use it. Here you’re actually using it in real time while you’re having fun with it. The way social media and the internet is going these days, it’s a great fit. It’s an evolution of our social lives. It’s the now generation. You want to blog, you want to Facebook, you want to send a post out… Instead of telling people “hey, come and check out my Facebook page of my ski trip last week”, you tell them “come to my Facebook page on Saturday, watch me go down the mountain”. Different conversation.
What you see here is you actually see it live, it’s streaming live, so you can see it, it’s pretty cool. It acts as a remote control so you can take a photo, start and stop the video.
Just to give you a couple of new introductions this year, this is the Air Pro 2. We’ve gone from a 5 megapixel to a 14 megapixel resolution, we’ve gone from a 170 degree field of view to an 180 degree field of view. The most important thing about this is that all of this, and the power consumption is still a two and a half hour battery life. So we’ve added all this horsepower, but still given you the power life that you need.
This is called the Adventure, this had GPS capabilities given to it. So we’re actually tracking and recording speed, acceleration, altitude, and location in real time, built into the file. There’s a platform called Kinomap which we’ve partnered up with, that allows you to drag and drop the video straight into the platform, and it comes to life. You’ve got the video, the metadata, a graph of your altitude, and a google map telling you exactly where you are in the world. So Ion Adventure I think that’s a really cool product, gives you the ability to mount it on your chest, and it’s a really great product to use on your adventures.
Another one is Ion The Game. This focuses on things like your golf game, a tennis game, a basketball game. It’s on a pedestal which allows you to put it on the ground and record your golf swing, and be able to analyze it. The great thing about this is it has a color display on it, it’s a two inch display so you can see, and size it up without anything else, and also you’ve got the ability to play it back in slow motion, and it has the wifi capabilities built in so you can use the apps with it.
