On Sunday, January 3 2016, skiers and snowboarders at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, BC were trapped in a gondola after an electrical malfunction. Kody Lapointe was able to record the whole helicopter airlift rescue on his GoPro! Think this was his most epic run of the day?
A staple in the DC line, this deck has a tasty price and was crafted to rip in all conditions. It has a forgiving rocker profile, which made it harder to catch an edge and encouraged trying new tricks. It was flexible, but not too soft, so our testers weren’t worried about washing out at high speeds or in the sludge. Carves were easy to lock in and we found this deck loved to launch all over. “This board would be best for a chick that rides mostly park, but who also likes to jib around the rest of the mountain and pop off anything,” said one Good Wood guru. “It charged, and I felt comfortable as soon as I strapped in.”
From our testers: “This Biddy will treat you right from first date to last. She is dependable and pops like a champ. This is a good board that is flexy but not too soft— Great for All-Mountain laps and groomers.”
(Flex is not standardized and differs by brand. The rating here is the best estimate of the board’s flex.)
(Sidecut Radius: The measure of how deep or shallow the arc of a board’s edge is from the tips to the middle, in meters. A smaller radius, around six to seven meters means a board will generally turn tighter. As the radius number increases, a board can be expected to make wider turns. Multiple numbers on the same length board means the radius is blended.)

Val de la Clarée is one of the last quiet corners of the French Alps, but it could have been very different. In the 1970’s a proposed highway and tunnel threatened to open the valley up to development, but the local farmers and residents protested. Mark Abma, Leo Ahrens, Tony Lamiche and Timothée Theaux visit this quiet valley to live of the grid in a restored chalet for a week of skiing under their own power.
The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team takes on one of their most challenging mogul courses at Deer Valley Resort, Park City, UT in Warren Miller’s Chasing Shadows.
