Blizzard Skis 15/16 Preview – SIA 2015

Jed Duke of Blizzard introduces the brand’s 2015/2016 lineup, highlighted by Carbon Flipcore technology. This inserts carbon fiber into the entire rockered parts of the tip and tail to stabilize the rockered zone and increase control. The Spur returns unchanged, while the Bodacious gets its metal taken away to make it a little more user-friendly, and many of the freeride skis get tapered tips and tails for easier smeary turns.

Blizzard introduced a new line as well called Carbon Drive, a 3D carbon fiber frame that’s torsionally strong. The 178 size of the 98-waisted ski comes in at 1250 grams, but the line also has 108 and 88-waisted models.

Monday Mallet: Near Impalement | TransWorld SNOWboarding

In this weeks Monday Mallet, Eric Gronneberg comes extremely close to being impaled by a metal pole. What starts out with Eric simply coming off the hand rail early, gets real harry in the run out, when he zings off the snowbank right into a perfectly placed metal pole. Luckily for him they had previously decided to put a trash can lid over said poll, or Eric may have been walking a little weird for a while.

Lost Village – Salomon Freeski TV S8 E07

Val de la Clarée is one of the last quiet corners of the French Alps, but it could have been very different. In the 1970’s a proposed highway and tunnel threatened to open the valley up to development, but the local farmers and residents protested. Mark Abma, Leo Ahrens, Tony Lamiche and Timothée Theaux visit this quiet valley to live of the grid in a restored chalet for a week of skiing under their own power.
